The Shape of the Poem: An Advanced Poetry Workshop

  • The Word Barn 66 Newfields Road Exeter, NH, 03833 USA (map)

COVID PROTOCOL & FAQs

In this five-week poetry workshop, participants will read challenging works of poetry to discuss how different kinds of language shape the poems we write.

Our discussion will focus on, not only the content of poems, but the ways in which the poems are made. We’ll explore questions such as: How do we move our poetry beyond the narrative? Why is attention to syntax important? How can we improve the revision process?

Each week will include discussion, time for writing, and ample time to workshop the participants’ original pieces.

Previous experience in a poetry workshop is encouraged but not essential.
